Types and properties of polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a polymer material, which is characterized by good plasticity and increased strength. This material is also characterized by resistance to temperature drops, ultraviolet radiation, resistance to mechanical damage, as well as to alkalis and acids.
Polycarbonates are used in various fields of application, including in construction. In particular, in construction, leaf (or monolithic) and cellular (or structured) types of polycarbonate are used in construction.
Monolithic polycarbonate has impact resistance, the degree of which does not decrease when exposed to both low and high temperatures. It is also characterized by a high level of transmission of visible light (high degree of transparency). In addition to excellent mechanical properties, it is worth paying attention to a wide range of design solutions, since this material is used for surfaces with a complex curved form. High characteristics of the strength allow the use of monolithic polycarbonate as a substitute for silicate glass in the implementation of protective glazing.
Cellular polycarbonate is also called cellular, or structured. It received such a name due to its internal structure, which consists of 2-4 layers of walls, which are interconnected by internal jumper-rings of stiffness in large quantities. They are directed along the length of the stove. The cells contain air, in this regard, cellular polycarbonate has excellent thermal insulation properties. And stiffener ribs give it excellent strength in relation to weight exposure.
In addition to these properties, cellular polycarbonate is characterized by high light transmission, fire safety and soundproofing parameters. Also, cellular polycarbonate is easy to assemble and installation, lightweight, but at the same time has a high bearing capacity and ultra -high impact resistance. It can also be bent under the influence of low temperatures.
